Almost on the road
Just took a few shots for insurance. Bike has been down and off the road to repair the tank. I hope to have her re=registered and roadworthy for the Rally. Have the time off, just need to get her going and the electrics hooked up for inspection (something I'm not very good at).
Thought I would share some pics.

Your rig is coming together nicely. Good luck with the electrics; I too am quite limited with all things electrical.
Speaking of electrics, please tell us more about the "rope" lights on the sidecar.

Thanks, the rope lights work as running lights at night. Red in Back and Yellow up front. I've hooked them up directly to the battery to test how they work. They were on the chair when I got it, and I figured I would keep them for better visibility at night. I've done a lot of 10-12 hour days solo, much at night, and hope to do more on 3 wheels if all works well. I may also try to add driving lights to if if all goes well. Seeing the pics, I see I need to paint the plastic clips black to better blend with the chair.
Nice rig! What year /6 is that? Got my favorite tank on it too. 1974 R90?
Looks like it sits well and I can see the preload with the lift of the bike minus rider.
The lower rear looks like the only compromise, less than optimal angle there.
I like to see that true perpendicular platform when viewed from the rear.
Rope lights? Good idea! I need to install my 18ah battery, rectifier and terminal strip interface behind the seat in my Velorex.
Again, nice BMW!

Copper.. one more thing . What sort of track width are you running on your rig?

Thanks Guys,
Track width is at about 50.5 inches. It looked a little wide, and I was going to have the mounts modified to make it shorter, but decided to try it at this width for a bit first. This is my first time setting one up, and I appreciate all advise. Still a little tweaking to do. I've also picked up a set of heavy duty tubes and square profile tires for her once I get the fenders adjusted to clear the edges.
I might suggest two minor changes for the setup.
Rotate the rear saddle mount 180 degrees so the lower mount will be closer to level.
Install some wider bars and it will handle much better. The narrow Beemer bars don't offer much leverage for steering a sidehack rig.

I'm set at 44" on my Greeves/Velorex. Gave me a foot between the bike and the sidecar rail.
Mounted a diamond plate platform in between for multiple uses...
I can strap cargo, rest my leg,and I can put a boot on it for persuasion.
It's an early dual sport and very light so it floats along a double track almost like a boat running swells lengthwise.
Got a heel toe shifter so gear stomping is effortless.
Lonnie and others here and elsewhere were very generous with advice..
Good group of people, sidecar folks.
I'm sure someone will point it out sooner than later...
your uppers have too much thread exposed, maybe just aesthetics but you'll never need that much adjustment and structurally you would benefit from the larger OD tubing. You could have the tubes extended eventually or find some longer ones. Again, just a cleaner look. I studied all the rigs I could find. on line and at shows out here and there are a good percentage that all you can say after watching it from the rear is "that ain't right"
Don't wanna be one of those guys.
I've only got the one hack, but I have a garage full of vintage bikes.
The Greeves was just a test to see if it would all click for me. It has, so I'm already working out my next rig.
Problem is I'm already scheming on my third!
Had a friend with a R90/6, Grenada Red, beautiful bike.
Should have bought it from him before he put a bullet in his head.
Damn you Joel..things weren't that bad.
Anyway..... 50-51 inches, that seems like a good platform, and as an extended outrigger will keep the Velorex down.
Can you lift the sidecar wheel off the ground standing on the left peg?
Don in Nipomo
Thanks, Hadn't thought about having the tubes extended. I'm not real happy with the amount exposed, but it's where they seemed to fall to get the measurements on target. Chair stays put when I stand on the left peg, I can lift it if I grab the bars and lean out. I think I need to get some higher rate springs front and rear on the machine though.
The BMW is the youngest machine I have now that my Ducati is gone. The other two are '69 Commando, and a '60 BSA. Decided to pair down and focus on just a few.
Edit: Will try moving the lower mount as suggested. I've been looking at the 22mm bars offered by flanders. My electrics are long enough as the Bike used to have US bars, just need to get new cables as I changed out for shorter ones when I went to the euros.
