hello, all.
quick question, has anyone found an inexpensive winshield for the dneper? Am looking for the shield and the brackets. I head that you can get a windshield say for a motorcycle and make brackets. Has anyone here done this and if so what did you use. Just looking for alternatives.

Thanks!
Alan

I made a windshield for an older Harley-Davidson TLE sidecar out of 1/8" clear polycarbonate sheet. I bought it at a plastics shop. It wasn't too expensive at the time but it's probably more now. They usually sell it by the square foot. The stuff I bought came with paper covering on it that is removed after you finish drilling your holes and making cuts to shape it. It's flexible enough to make curves without any damage and it cuts nicely with a sharp knife or hand-held saw.

The only downside is that it will scratch. That can be eased if one washes it only with soap and water and a clean cloth, letting the cloth soak the bug parts off first.

Happy Trails!

Lexan is a brand name for generic polycarbonate. Here's a nice piece on eBay big enough for a windshield.

thanks for the replies. My next question is the mount and brackets. Did you make your own and how, or does some one make these at a good price.

Thanks!
Alan

Wow. You've got me there. I've never looked closely at a Dnepr. I bet someone else knows.

On the older Harley TLE's, there were screws that fit into holes in the body and a stainless steel strip that held the windshield down. On the newer ones they don't even use the steel strip anymore. They just use a strip of black foam.

Good luck.

With the vinyl apron, body bracketry and windshield frame involved this is not a quicky windshield.
Look for one that will mount to the top of the body or find a CJ, Dnepr or URAL windshield.

I have just the vinyl aprons here.
