Hi new here and to sidecars, I'm trying to find the correct lean angle for a H.D. FLH with H.D. sidecar 1996 model. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

I would advise that you pickup the Harley sidecar setup manual. There are several on eBay right now. The book shows that the frame should be level under the tub. The wheel will then be vertical since the axle is, of course, fixed to the frame.

As to lean, the book has a diagram that recommends 1 degree to zero degree lean to start with. This is based on the premise that when the rider is seated on the machine, the lean angle will change to the outside a little.

Beyond that, the other adjustment is toe-in which the book states should be 3/4 to 1" in. This is measured using some long straight boards (2X4's or equivalent) that go from the rear and sidecar wheel towards the front wheel on each side. There is a nice diagram in the book.

These settings have remained fairly constant down through the years, at least with regard to Harleys.

I'll try to attach some pictures, Courtesy of HD, to show you the diagrams.

Good luck.
