Velorex 700
Saw an ad for an un-used ? Velorex 700 car. supposed to be a 99 MY, bought in 01 and still sitting on the jet ski cart. Is it a suitable car for a Suzuki Savage? Any thing to know about it before we go look on Wednesday morning? Thanks Max
I am a noob at sidecars and am still looking around myself, but I *think* that all the Velorex models are fairly light weight and would work fine on a Savage. There are some things to consider such as how the mounting is done - a subframe or extra gusseting or clamps to spread the pressure over a wider area would be recommended. There are some very experienced folks here who can help - they are probably busy with something else at the moment..
Early 700S weighs in at 170#. The Savage will haul it fine.
Not enough CC's for freeway use however. Fine for secondary roads.
The Velorex mounting kit will attach it.

We went and looked at the car today. Seems to be pretty complete and we will contact the seller after the oncologists report on the 31st. Thanks for your input Lonnie. We used the Savage/Cozy Bullet rig for the first time on the freeway today. AZ freeways seem to be 65 MPH max and we were able to do that OK. Would rather run surface streets but it took 2 hrs to get there using the freeway. Must say it is another beautiful day for riding here in Queen Creek, AZ. Was supposed to be snowing again in Eastern WA. Max
Oncologist report was great so we are headed out in the AM to get the 700. It is on a jet-ski cradle and the plan is to roll it up the back of his landscapers trailer and then place the ramp on the Colorado bumper and drop the tail gate cables and roll it into the bed of the Colorado. Will off load it into the enclosed cycle trailer the opposite way. Should work for us. If not I think he will deliver it on the trailer and it will go directly into the cycle hauler. We are looking forward getting it on a tug and using it. Not sure if it will go on the 96 Savage bagger or something bigger for WA freeway use. Hopefully all will fit in the trailer so we have one to use until the other is road ready. Still fussing with some minor oil leaks in the newer tug and would like to have it home where I can lift it to eyeball height to try and find the problem. It is on the bottom end of the engine and not a known place for Savages to leak. Maybe even have it in time for the Chelan Rally. Max
Good news!!! Make sure you post pictures;o)
