Hi I have a Ural Gear UP and need Front and Rear Tires for Street and Trail, I would like bigger Tires than Stock so there is more Rubber on the Road for Braking, any info will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

Mike

Mike, there aren't a lot of choices in 19" that are sidecar rated. Especially for dual sport use.

Coker Tire makes a 450x19 street tire--expensive and really designed for old cars.

Your very best choice is the Heidenau 400X19 dual sport tire designed for the Ural.

Try Dave Heindl at Heindl Engineering in Ohio. They are a Ural dealer with a good line on the Heidenau tires.

Most wider tires will not clear your driveshaft. Your braking can be maximized by careful adjustment of your rear drum and sidecar drum. Wider tires will not help much.

Hi thanks for the info, I am unsure were the Bike puts its stopping Power, on a Bike the Front is most of the Stopping Power and think but not sure the Ural is the Same so I figured a Front Tire with more Rubber on the Ground would give me allot more Stopping Power, do you know if this is correct? I have a two new Tires one on the Sidecar and a spare Tire that I want to put on the Rear and buy a new Tire for the front, my only problem is figuring how to lift the bike to change the Tire, can you give me some advice on changing Tires on the Road? carrying a spare Tire is only good if I can change it on the Road, I see it has a center stand but do not know how to use it and could use some advice?

Thanks again.

Mike

Using the centerstand:
Bike in neutral, lower stand and hold down with your left foot. Grab handhold, lift and pull rear of bike back and up onto the stand till it overcenters and holds rear tire off of the ground.
For other wheels a small scissor jack placed in the sidecar trunk is a must for on the road tire repairs.
