About a year ago I bought a Ducati electronic ignition for my Ural because I was having alot of trouble with the Russian one. I just recently got around to installing it. What a hassel. It was missing some of the instruction sheets, notably the figures they refer to and I'm not even real sure the instructions were for this model. Anyway, finally got it on and have not been able to get it to work. The engine backfires and there isn't enough adjustment to overcome this.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of ignition and/or has anyone also had trouble with it?

I got it from the Wagner's and don't have much faith that they'll take it back. I'd really like to get it to work.

Thanks, Dick Codding

Hello Dick,
The Ducati and the Ural might have way different engine characteristics in aspect off: fire spot, advance and rev range. (specially the Ducati with its forced valve train.) Possibly a Harley and Ural met here better their characteristics. Local guys swear on Harley's with custom electronic ignition (now even with potted PLC control for the hole bike => not even flash relay needed)

FWIW, Urals started coming with a Ducati-made ignition from the factory in late 2006. They are sold now by Ural dealers as an upgrade(?) for older models.
