trip trees on a HD
i installed a liberty tree on my 2007 ultra last year - simply perfect.
you do have to egg out the holes in the chrome apron under the fairing & you do have to modify the top nut keeper with a die griner & it is a lot of work to install.
however it IS possible to hang the bars etc from the cieling while taking the tubes out and replacing the tree. thus avoiding taking the bars, controls, wiring, cables all apart.
the kit comes with a 1" tall top nut for the tubes to keep the bike the same ht as it was to start with after the rake is increased - since i was installing a 145r15 rear tire and wheel i omitted the spacer and the bike sits about 1.5" lower without reducing the stroke of the suspension - this DID require moving the bracket of the front brake lines to keep the center section bolt from hitting the fender [look between the fender and the brake parts and you will see the bolt that caused the problem] i moved the brake line bracket to be in the spacer stack for the steering stabilizer and that moved it just far enough to allow full compression of the front end without hitting anything and without the 1" spacers.
fwiw - on the 08 models there "may" be a conflict between the key switch and the front of the new larger tank using these trees...
by the way your factory flaming paint job looks really great
i seriously considered going that route when i traded in my bike but chose to keep my old sidecar and mount it to the new bike....
