Tires for the Battle Wagon
It is time for the dreaded tire change on my hack. I have an R75/6 stock wheels all around with a Velorex 562 hack. What kind of tires. Are the Metzeler Block K's the choice. Is there a car tire available, is there a good tire for the 562...
The world wonders.
put Metzler block k's [4.00X18]on the rear of the tug and on the SC if it's 18".
put Avon MKII flat tread on the front...3.50 19"
I've had good results with them on my /5 rig.
The Metzeler K block is often used for one of the tires. I think they only come in one size. Avon makes a tire for the other end I believe. Also one size. Since your choices seem to be one 19" and one 18" tire on the bike and there is very little side clearance, I don't think any automobile tires would fit without rubbing in its stock condition.
One of the best tires for the 562 is the factory tire, a 3.50 x 16" Mitas.
They are designed for the side loading stresses and will last a long time on a properly aligned rig.
A low cost replacement that has less service life is the 6 ply rated 3.50 x 16" Chen shing.
All stock Velorex models have 16" wheels but there are 3 different rim widths that will accomodate tires from a 3.25x16" to a 130x90x16".

Hack'n,
the wheels on the R75/6 are 19" front and 18" rear.
Bob,
Thanks for the input. Not being a Beemerite I erred in wheel size. However the info re: Metzeler and Avons only fitting one end each is still correct, I assume?
Change made in my post re: sizing).
yup, the metzler block K only comes in 18" wheel size.
the Avon MK II triple duty only comes in 19"...
Avon Triple Duty MK II 3.50LX19 Sidecar Tire. L-rated to 75 mph. Flat tread profile ensures a large contact patch. Center rib for positive steering
