Best tire for the hack is the OEM tire.

Heindenau tires has a sidecar tire as well as a front tire for the bike www.heidenautires.com On the rear you can if you are carful about mounting it due to some safety issues that have been covered elsewhere you can run a 125 15 car tire. I have attached photo's of a slightly modified C40 that we mounted a sidecar out of India onto. On this rig we ran an Avon sidecar triple duty in a 3.50 19 on the front and a Metzler 125 15 car tire on the rear. And of course this used our bike specific NOT universal mounting hardware as universal stuff seldom works well.

I have a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 with a Velorex 562. I recently put an Avon triple duty on the front, an Avon Mk2 on the rear and a Heindenau on the sidecar. The rig is truly transformed. It drives, steers and rides much better.
Too early to tell how many miles I will get from them, but the quality of the ride has been well worth the cost.
