Hi All:

New guy here. I just picked up a '58 Velorex hack and plan to put it on either my '76 R90 or '91 R100 airhead. First of all I need to do a restoration on it (it's been in a barn for a few years and is most disassembled). I will need to clean up and paint the frame, re-do the seats, etc.

From you experts out there...what do you recommend for the following:
- What manual or information I can get my hands on to make things easier?
- Any other info/advice???

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

ps Hopefully my "photobucket" pictures of the hack as it now sits in my hangar and a pix of the dataplate come through. I believe it to be a 1958 Velorex Jawa model.

You are lucky to have the windshield brackets. Hard to find items.
New windshields are available and some of the later mounting bits will retrofit but not much is available as NOS parts. It's a short list but then it is a 50 year old hack.

From what I understand of those older tubs, you'll want to improve the axle (I hear the older ones break)? You'll probably want a subfrme for the bike.

I've had a Jawa/Velo 560 on my Moto Guzzi for over a year.
I replaced the s/c tire, and bearings. I spoke with Doug Bingham about going to a beefier axle and he said it wasn't necessary.
Check out the photo album gilberth.

Are there any manuals, books, or other on-line resources you would recommend?

Thanks, Brian
