OK, I want to hang a hack on my new-to-me Sportster, it seems like a fitting replacement for the trusty Ural (conveniently for sale). Any recommendations? And any hints or tips?

We make bike specific mounting kits for the Sportster and mount many Ural's on them, We often lower the Ural and convert it to disk brake. The Kenna or Sputnik would also work well.
We have Ural, Sputnik and Kenna sidecars in stock as well as mounts for some years of Sportster

We mount a lot of 562C's and 563 Tour cars on them. These don't overwhelm the Sporty's and are a good fit with a classic look.
No list of extra cost options to buy. They come with all the factory accessories included.
One downside is that cockpit entry is difficult for a very large person or one who cannot bend their legs.

I too have a Sportster that we wanted to hack. I'm not an impulse buyer, so I really looked the situation over. We really liked the Ural sidecar, but thought it was too big for the bike. A member on this site graciously allowed us to ride in his rig. He had a 562 Velorex. After riding and discussing it with Henry, we knew it was the car for us. Awaiting delivery now. In the future if we decide to hack a larger bike I am sure the Ural will be our front runner. One nice thing about the Velorex is that the price is all inclusive. You get the accessories also. One of my thoughts was to not get too much tied up in this project in case it's not all we hoped it would be. We did spring for a subframe however. Read all you can but in the end it's your decision that really matters. Our choice was a 563 Tour from Northwest Sidecars, and a subframe from Dauntless Motors. Just waiting for everything to be delivered. Bob
