I just can t figure out the use nor installation process for a spring and canvas strap that circles the mainframe and attaches somehow to my 50 harley tub got any pictures? (pictures good) any help is appreciated. Keep shiney side up....

Back then bolts hadn't been invented yet so it's a tie down strap?!?!?!? Or, it helps keep the passenger in the tub, the spring keeps the bruising down when they hit the end of the tethers travel, kinda' like what you use to keep a dog in the sidecar???
Sorry, got no ideas other than above. Yea, a wise ass answer is worse than no answer at all!
