Sportster Squat
With the 883 sportster hooked up to the Velorex 562 I am finding that the left rear shock is squating uncomfortably, when I sit on the bike. Will less outward lean help this. I do have a tad to much lean presently. What if anything are the options I have for this squatting problem?

Preacher,
They both squat together it just looks more pronounced on the left side. Invest in a pair of Progressive Suspension shocks for sidecar usage.
Got 'em on my 883/562C rig and they are great.
Put Screamin' Eagle juice in the front forks too for less front end dive.
1 degree loaded lean-out works well.

I have the lean now where it needs to be. It helped greatly. MMMMhhhhmm I will go with the progressive shocks too. Any idea where to pick up a pair??
I have been ordering specialty stuff on the internet lately with good results.
Most of the time the prices are better than at a stocking cycle dealer. The dealers usually have to order out anyway.
Why the heck does this site let me log in on the message screen and after I do it sends a blank page?!
Oh well- anyway- I keep wondering, too; do I/we just find the shocks and ask for sidecar weight? How do we know we're getting sidecar springs and not solo springs?
If possible, I talk to the technical staff and give them specifics.
Which bike and weight, sidecar weight, projected loading and usage. From this input they can tell which valving and shock springs will support the rig without the mushy ride the stock shocks deliver and without excess roughness.
I like using the Progressive Suspension products. They have good products and are more reasonably priced than Koni and some other specialty suspension vendors.
Some more thrifty souls will go to a cycle salvage yard or swapmeet and purchase shocks designed for a heavier class bike that have the same length and bushing size. That also works, but is a bit more trial and error. The longevity may not be as good, but the prices are better.

Preacher, you won't go wrong following Hack'n's advice, but I thought maybe two more cents would be helpful. When I couldn't find Progressive shocks at a price to my miserly liking for my 883, I went with slightly used shocks from the Sportster Sport model. (1200 XLS I believe). Got them for a good price and they are 3-way adjustable, allowing for many changes in passenger loading etc. Might be another option to keep your eyes open for ...
I don't know how much better the Harley shocks will work since the 1200 Sportys are lighter than the 883s are for some reason unbeknownst to me.
