sidecar tire wear
I'm curious about the mileage wear on a sidecar tire....just curious how many miles do you get out of the tire ? I have about 4000 miles on mine and have a lot of center wear but the wear is even. just change out the tire or should I be looking at something I'm doing wrong?
There are many factors that determine tire life, Tire size, how heavy is the bike, what wheel lead are you running and on and on. Usualy unless you go with an automotive tire on the rear you can as a fuel of thumb figure on about 1/2 the life you had before the sidecar.
What bike and sidecar are you running?

Jay, I running a 09 HD Roadglide with a Motivation Spyder sidecar. The Car tracks great but I have set it up to be a few inches wider....
If it's a dedicated rig the '09 and later Harley swingarms will accept a 16" automobile tire very easily on the rear. Greatly increases rear tire life and affords better traction.
As to the sidecar tire, the life depends upon what tire you have and your driving style. You'll get better mileage with a flat tread tire there also. With a Spyder, perhaps a 5.00/16 like the early Harley cars used.
Wearing the center out of a sidecar tire and a rear tire of the tug is normal since you don't bank in the turns anymore and there is always a certain amount of tire scrubbing present even with the best aligned combo. The front wheel still turns so there will be less wear on that one.

Lonnie can you give me the skinny on mounting that tire? What tire do i use and can I run a car tire on the car also?
Check the darkside tire site for info on what is being used with your model bike. Probably a 195/55R/16.
a 5.00/16 auto will fit your Spyder if you are using a 16" wheel.
