shinko tires
has any body used these tires. i am going to put 3 new tires on my harley and i was wondering if anyone has any experience with them . all the date codes on the tire on the bike now are all too old as far as i am concerned.
I just bought one for my 82 wing. I have run Dunlop Elite 2's and the last set was Elite 3's. I do not like the Elite 3's The front whines and does not in my opinion hold up like the last elite 2's did. The chapter director of our Wing club has run the Shinko on his 1500 for the last two sets with good success. He says the mileage is about 14,000. at 1/3 the cost of the Dunlops I feel they are worth a try. The Motorcycle superstores has them at a good price and they have many reviews on the Shinko. I purchased the 230 tour. I will let you know in a couple of years how they held up.
the cost of the dunlops were pretty steep at the HD dealer .[along with some of the other service prices ] . shinko caught my eye because they sell a copy of the old goodyear tire for the harleys .

I've been waiting around for someone post real-world experience with the Shinko 240 Classic MT90H-16 tube type tire.

I have shinko on my 2 wheeler love them quiet great in the wet would buy again. Got them from motorcycle superstore fast shipping great to deal with
thanks for the input .the dealer is telling me $200 each for the dunlops for the front and sidecar tire .plus the rear is close to the same price . so if the handling and tire life is close i may just go with the shinko tire .
the shinkos i can get online . how are the date codes on the tires from the motorcycle superstore ? i dont want starting out with 4 year old tires.
The one I received from motorcycle superstore is 6 months old, which is probably as good as most dealers in stock supply.
thanks for the info .now this week i will have to get off my behind and get some tires . the front tire date code is from the 90s .the other 2 are 10 years old . the bike is a 1993 and has 14000 miles so these are the second set put on by the former owner. but they are way too old for sidecar use .
Do not buy tires from the dealer you pay MSRP and they make a bunch of each one sold. I get my Dunlap from Jake Wilson front and sidecar D402s for $135 each that is white wall and rear for just a little more.
The tire on mine now on the rear is a E3 and will be the last one I run. Free shipping over a $100 which just getting one is over that.

SHINKO 240 CLASSIC SUCKS. I can't say anything about the other Shinko tires. My local Honda MC dealer sells Shinko and they had to order this one . I put it on in March of 2012 and by the time I got back from my road trip to The Tail of the Dragon September 20, 2012 here is what it look like. Less than 4,000 miles.
I originally bought the Shinko to put on my Velorex but it has to much sidewall to fit my fender so I put it on the rear of my Sporty

IMHO, your rear MC tire wear pattern would seem to indicate your alignment is not ideal. Not enought toe-in and perhaps some added lean-out is in order. On second look it might just be angle of the light.

Might need a little change in lean......but that is the day I returned from The Tail of the Dragon. I did find out on those roads that the rear tire likes to chatter when braking hard into a left hander so that may have helped in the off sided wear
I have used Shinko's on some of my bikes, worked well, wore reasonably well for the price.
I have seen where a lot of dealers want full markup on tires, but if they know you well, they are likely to cut some slack on pricing to keep you coming back.
I feel like family at my dealer, they treat me so well. I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess. NYB
I usually quote some other verifiable prices to see if a given seller wants to match it. If not, that's their problem, not mine.
