That is just TOO funny Sarge! I may have to think about adding that... 😉

The Escort sidecar uses an automotive combination taillight housing so there is already a white backup light there with a wire in the harness for it. Wouldn't be hard to add the beeper as well....

I thought about a microswitch, but most of them are pretty delicate.

I have been thinking about using one of the rotary sidestand switches like used on the newer BMWs for actuating the lights and/or beeper. Should be pretty easy to mount at the pivot point for the reverse lever. They are already designed to be road-worthy (wet, grit, grime). Also, the rotary switch would not put any spring tension on the lever in either position, so no tendancy of a too-strong switch spring trying to make unwanted shifts for you in mid-maneuver....

Just my engineering input on the switching issue.....

The way this thread's going it would seem that you folks along the Northern tier have a lot of extra free time during the winter to get innovative. LOL
