Removing Seat

1996 Goldwing. To remove the seat I have to disconnect the upper rear strut, and probably remove (haven't done it yet) the mounting hardware. It's the only way to remove the seat to service the air clearner and battery.

Does anyone with a Goldwing have a mounting set up that will not block seat removal? Agreed, access is not needed often, but I like convenience.

To remove seat on 1996 Goldwing I have to take out 4 bolt(2 on each side). Did it 4-5 times. No need to disconnect the upper rear strut. What sidecar do you have? Where upper rear strut attached?

On my Gold Wing/Hannigan the upper rear strut uses the seat bolts for attachment to the frame. I just remove the two bolts that go through the strut and the seat mount. Then the seat comes right off.

Be glad you have a Honda. Bmw's require the seat and the tank to come off just to check battery and change/clean air filter. Using K&N and cleaning every 30K. Which is about the same time I need to replace the battery. Can't seem to get much more than 2 years out of a battery, and that is riding 15K a year.
