Hi folks, I'm needing advise on where to mount this top rear mount. The bike is a Kawasaki Vulcan 800

In order to keep the attachment high I'm thinking that the fender strut bolt (arrow pointing) will be a good place .

The fender strut is pretty stout. Do you guys think it's a good location?

This is the same bike model with an "iffy" mount...

I have seen that location used by some sidecar makers so I presume it has been successful.

Another question...

Can the rear top arm be straight (vertical) or is it better to be set at an angle (top further away than at bottom)?

Make a plate that picks up both of the bolts at the front of this chrome plate near the seat base. They single eye bolt you show may also work very well depending on what it is going into and the diameter of the shank. You do not want your strut straight up and down.
While it has been so long since we have done an 800 I forgot we even had the mounts for it. I looked it up and we do make mounts. I have attached the full instructions which show all of the hardware.
