Hi all,
Can any one tell me if they have upgraded the rear shocks to cope with sidecar work? I have an 06 HD Sportster custom 1200, it can sometimes wallow into left handers, remember we drive on the left side of the road in Australia so the sidecar is mounted on the left. It can sometimes bottom out as well, I have a LL front end with Koni shocks and the sidecar also has a Koni shock. The bike has the standard HD shocks I run them on the second highest spring tension, I find the highest setting delivers too harsh a ride. Otherwise it's a great handling outfit.

Any advise welcome.

Sean.

I don't have a sidecar on my sporty that's my solo machine but I can tell you stock HD Sportster shocks come with only two adjusments, too soft and too firm. Set at softer setting they are extremely hard to get to that initial one inch compression and then totally collapse with load or aggressive riding set at firmer setting might as wheel be riding a hardtail. Any of the after market shocks perform better.

Sean, I too run my rear stock HD shocks on the 2nd highest setting and it's OK at best. I suggest checking on Ikon shocks from down under. We have suspended Jena's Burgman both front & back with Ikon fork springs/shocks -- she's well pleased with the results.
