Rake/Trail
New to the side car world. I picked up a 79 GL1000 with a CA side car. It seems to be a bear at steering at slower speeds. Above 30 it rides straight and true and is fun to drive. But I seem to be muscling it around town. Someone told me if I increase the rake of the forks it will improve the driveability around town. But what about highways speeds? I am going to rebuild the bike over the winter so this would be a good time to change the (raked triple trees) rake.
What kind of sidecar?
What're your tire pressures?
How wide ar the bars?
Stock handle bars. I set the tire pressure to a the maual's recommendation for a loaded GL1000. The sidecar is a California Friendship. Unfortunately, it also seems like the 79 GL1000's suspension is woefully under rated too. Winter is here (almost) and I going to be working on the bike so I figured this would be a good time to get raked triple trees if available. I was told that triple trees of a 750 of the same era are identical but haven't check it out yet. Things are still in the disassmebly stages.
