Has anyone tried this? Itching to try conversion on our rig this winter!
Been seeing more and more cars/trucks on the road with them and they're sure BRIGHT! T'would be safety PLUS for cycles/trikes/sidecar rigs!
Maybe some brands of new['09 - '10?]motorcycles will have them.

I've got them as turn signals. The low amp draw requires an added electronic device so they will function properly.

I always figured the turn signals are only used intermittantly so I haven't bothered with them, but I use led replacements for tail and brake lights. They work great. The ones I use just fit a normal 1157 socket. The local parts houses carry them for around $10 each.

I personally don't like the LED tail/stop lights that are being offered for bikes, the ones you see on the road are 10mm super bright LED's and for the most part are at or close to eye level, the ones for bikes are 5mm LED's and like all LED's are very directional and need to be mounted in 15 deg's to the eye to be bright and this is hard if not impossible on a bike.
If you decide to use them be sure to get RED LED's to mount behind your red lens, a lot of people think that they should be white but that NOT what you want because in a LED the white light isn't white it's a bright blue white light and the red lens will filter out the blue and the resulting light emission is very dim and almost impossible to see in the day light.
I suggest that you stay with the 1157's and try adding tin foil behind the light, you'll be surprised at the difference it makes in a lot of cases.
