They have the color OEM codes and charge for them, others that I know that went to auto paint stores the color didn't quite match up but that was on 2 and 3 base paint like Honda uses, with black or another single base paint it should be real close. It looks to me that you have one of the 3 coat paints, one of the biggest problems is getting the second color coat even with out over laps that show up darker and conversely areas that did get the same amount of paint that show up lighter, it's tuff to do, be right about the temp's, humidity and nozzle size and it should come out alright.
Well that’s not very encouraging.
I’ve only painted a few bikes nothing as large as this sidecar.
i hate to go straight black, it just doesn’t seam right to do all of this work and not have it match the bike
Go to some painters and tell them what you want to do, a lot of time they will do small jobs for extra bucks very reasonable or if nothing else tell you what you need to do, a lot of times it the paint gun that the biggest draw back, most of the paints are formulated for the HPLV (hi pressure low volume) guns that use a gravity feed, I bet if you check around you will find some one that will do it and you can bet he will bring his gun, got nutten to lose. If you going to match you bike paint lay out be sure to use thin line masking tape, it's not cheap but it, because it so thin, won't allow a build up of paint like regular tape will plus it really easy to make bends with.
well tonight i painted the frame the paint stuck .the paint flowwed out good.
all parts painted and ready to mount to the bike
now ive got some old pics the first two are my farther who bought the car new. the person in the side car is my oldest brother and the other is dad.
if the guy in the side care doesnt say disco i dont know what does.
the next pictures are of me my kids and the former wife. one of the fun thinks to do was to put as many kids in the car as you could fit and drive the 20 miles to the beach. in new hampshire you could put as many in the side care as you could fit helmets. i have to laugh my xwife hated motorcycles but this was ok because it was saver. thank god she never drove it.
so i have been thinking about the paint. i cant see spending the money for matching paint i may not even be able to get the dogs to ride in it.
so it going to be black unless any one have any other ideas. like maybe a silvery black or something like that. any photos of something like that would be good to see.
for a single coat paint that would complement your bike colors you might take a look at a Black Cherry, it has very very fine gold flecks and changes color in the daylight and street lights changing from a black to a deep warm maroon on the rounded surfaces with the fade lines fading into each other, but with any dark color prep is very important with no or at least as few irregularities as possible because, they will show up as a fading, one color into the other, it's worth a look IMHO, just a thought.

1/8" wall for self made air tank at 150 PSI......
nope
In US You can do what you want, but your insurance might have its FOUNDED objections.
Safer to take a small prooven comercial tank
....or test with WATER pressure at minimum 250 PSI.
A friends brother passed by because his boss disconected the water supply and conected the air hose while he still was closing the man hole of a boiler.....

Insurance? Back then I never had insurance on my bikes. Newhampshire doesn’t make you have insurance unless you get in trouble DWI or an accident, that strange you only need it after it to late
House of Kolors has a good line of automative paints. They also have a paint matching system. I gave up painting when the prices went up so high. I'm getting into powder coating. It won't work on plastics but for everything else, it's great.
Nice sidecar. When I see what you are gong through to provide a swing arm and springing on your sidecar, I'm happy with the old Harley. It looks like you know what you are doing.
Good luck. 🙂
I am impressed...Nice Job... Heck if I had such a nice frame I don't know if I would ever put the body on it...just drive around and show off my frame work... very Kool.

I think Harley has the right idea with the ridged no lean or geometry problems. plus its cool old school.
The air ride is just for fun if it works fine. If not I’ll work up a spring system. I have a couple of ideas if that time comes. I seem to remember the original frame never seaming to have the right amount of spring.
Powder coating. I have had some done before its grait stuff but always cost me to much. Do you do it yourself?
Peter pan
This is for you i fond it in my junk draw . its a 75 psi blow off valve. That should be enough pressure.
i dont need to blow anyone up.
I was able to put the car on to night. I had to pick up some more bolts on my way home. This has always been the worsted part of restoring or building something nice. This bag was $30. I think I spent about $60 altogether.
The car mounted
I checked the toe I had ¾ over 8 feet. I set the lean to half a bubble very technical.
Question. When setting toe what is the right length to use. I used two 8 foot lengths of pipe one on the bike and one on the car.
next thing will be the air lines im thinking steel.
then the interior i need to recrute my carpenter buddy for that. i stink at wood working.

I'm just now getting into it. I've been working on a 2X3X6' oven for the last three years ( less than part time ) and I just finished.
It's large enough for a motorcycle or sidecar frame and anything smaller. I could do three car wheels at a time if need be.
It's only expensive if you have to have someone else do the work for you. Powders are relatively inexpensive and the only other cost, once you have an oven and spray equipment would be electricity. You also probably need a bead blast cabinet and a portable sandblasting unit for large work outside, but I've had those for years.
This is the oven framework:
Here in an inside picture with the elements in the base and the lower trolley to roll work in.
This is the oven with the front door showing.
I'm restoring a Honda Harmony Riding Mower right now and I'l be powdercoating the mower deck and several parts from that for starters.
very nice.
i just though away an oven no room.
the mower are they collector things or just for fun.
how do i quoite

There's a quote button on the upper right.
Threw away an oven, Huh? That would have given you all of the parts you need. In fact, lots of people are using old kitchen ovens for powdercoating as is for smaller parts. I started out with a toaster oven. You should go look for that oven and see if you can get it back. LOL.
A friend gave me his old Honda riding mower. I already have one just like it that my wife uses and she won't let me near it except to change the oil. Ha. A new one is $2,700 so I thought I'd repair this one. $90 for tires, $30 for powdercoat, $35 for a replacement steel seat and some labor and it will be as good as new. I'll be mowing the lawn with it this Spring.
