Oh baby i have a rattle!!
Yes on my new to me rig, boohoo. Just on pulling away i get a rattle that seems to be coming from the front. If i put my hand down and under there is some kind of plate that is loose. Ground is wet so i have not tried to shine a torch under there. Very tinny almost like an exhaust on a car rattling against something before it smooths out.
Is there any kind of different gear change lever that will make changing easier. My ankle mobility is somewhat limited (since birth)
Just taking things very gently right now

Steve, now that you have alerted the world that you will Once Again be on a sidecar rig, we can discuss all these things on these pages, rather than you e-mailing me.
That rattle, sounds like it has a belly pan on the bike, which is a thin sheet metal, some of them are aluminum, which you pronounce as Aluminium, and if it is loose, it can rattle, or if it has been grounded out over a speed bump, etc, then the belly pan can rattle against the exhaust headers.
Easy enough to check.....find a place on earth that is not wet, lay down on the ground, look under the engine of the bike, and see if there is a thin metal plate, usually about 18" wide, by 24" long (I can do that in Millimeters if the Olde English in you insists (for those that don't know, Steve is formerly from the UK) He used to drive a Norton Atlas rig, back in the days of yore.
As a two wheeled rig, there are many of us in the US that have installed those belly pans on our Goldwings, as they protect the underside from road debris.
As a sidecar rig, it is slightly less needed, but still good to have.
It THAT is what is rattling, either secure it, remove it, stuff a small block of wood between it and the engine...anything to eliminate the rattle, and confirm or deny that is where the rattle is coming from.
As for the shift level issue, there ARE some solutions, such as Floor Boards and using a Heal/Toe shifter, or...go to www.wingstuff.com and see if there is a longer shift lever for your bike. In the near future, www.wingstuff.com will become your new best friend, and you will forget all about ME.
