Hi everyone! I need some of y’all’s expert advice about attaching an old Spirit Eagle (we think) to my ’06 Honda Shadow Aero 750. I guess my first question should be: is this SC too light to for this bike? (I’ve been studying everything y’all have written about weight ratios; therefore, this is concern #1)

This is the first time my husband and I are putting together a rig without a professional, although I’ll gladly pay if there is part of the job we can’t do ourselves. (We own a construction company and have some manufacturing connections due to owning tons of old crappy equipment that always needs reviving)

I got a great deal on the hack, but it’s in pretty rough condition without any of the mounting hardware. The PO had had it seriously MacGyver’ed to a BMW airhead, and had driven it around the US for years before retiring it to his equipment barn.

The tub is scuffed, but only has one small crack near the fender. My hubby has removed and rebuilt the wheel and new bearings. The spokes seem to have only light rust. The arms may or may not be original. Two of the struts are ball and collet, the other two look like long eye bolts. He said the shock was from a Beemer.

The frame appears sturdy even though the frame is made of fairly thin, light, tubing, which does worry me a bit. Will it hold up to the amount of ballast I might need to carry??? (I weigh about 130lbs and I’ll be carrying a 100lb pound dog OR about 50lbs of belly dance skirts, 20lbs of dumbbells and a portable stereo for the fitness classes I teach)(it will be for recreational use)

#1. Is this even a feasible project or should I look for a different sidecar altogether?

#2. What hardware do I need and who can I buy it from? (I’d prefer do business with one of you since I’ve learned so much from y’all while lurking around this site.)

I’d also appreciate any mounting advice. I’ve also looked at the pics ANGIEHAV posted of the mounting points on her Aero that she is selling, but her hack is an Easy-Rider and her front mounting bar is completely different. And someone posted an original Installation Guide, and others have posted other formulas which I’ve saved and studied. So, if anyone has any advice, my eyes and ears are open….

We make bike specific mounts for your bike and also "raked" triple tree's we developed these items for cool cycles ice cream www.coolcyclesicecream.com Normaly when we run a spirit eagle chassis like yours we have you weld two cross braces to the bottom of the frame which also converts the lower mounts to "Bosses and clamps" this makes the frame and mounts much more stout.
