How in the WORLD do I figure out which is the best SC for my bike? I'm looking to mount it on a 1999 Heritage Softail Classic. Which ever dealer I talk to, if what they have WON'T go on my bike, they'll say so, but if what they DO sell will go on my bike, then of course THEIRS is THE MATCH for my bike. No other SC will do.

I'm so confused now.

At this point I'm looking at a California Companion or a Champion Legend....I think. Like I said, I'm now so confused.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Which one do you like the best? How much money do you want to spend?

For my money the Motorvation Spyder would look good and who doesn't like the classic look of the Liberty sidecar paint matched to a Harley? I like the looks of the Champion Legend, but maybe better on an Indian?

Hey - it's all personal preference. Take a run long to the end of the dock and jump! The water is just fine no matter which you decide is right for you.

To add to what Stece said on ething is important. Aesthetics are a big issue to many and what is neat to one person isn't to another. Laying looks aside be sure to get a sidecar that has enough weith to it is match your bike well.
One big mistak emany make when starting out is to find what seems like a good buy but on a light sidecar. Adding ballast can help in righ tturns but is may not help the soft suspension many light sidecrs have.
The sidecar choices listed in previous posts are all good ones.

Ok, so I'm really liking the look of the Champion Legend. What about it's weight in comparison to a 1999 Heritage Softail Classic?

I'm supposed to go to a sidecar class on the 21st, but I have the feeling our schedule is going to end up conflicting and we'll be out of town. ( We breed dogs and have one due to come in heat. When she does, we're outa here to go meet the boyfriend 2 states away! LOL)

If I can make the class, great. Otherwise I was just planning on spending some time in parking lots again. How long did any of you guys spend practicing before you put a real live human being in the car? Did you find an adult who could willingly consent, or did you make your kids do it?

This reminds me alot of when I started riding 2 wheels and was afraid to go down our driveway (it's very very steep, with a drop off on one side, and a SHARP left turn at the bottom while still going down the steep hill, all while hoping no car comes barreling around the corner. It's where I dropped my bike the very first time and learned that I can indeed pick up my bike, especially when the neighbors are watching. Can't say enough for adrenaline.) So here I go, starting all over again! LOL

Yes, indeed you are starting all over again. Sidecars are like nothing else. You want to be careful and get all the training you can. Good....... you are doing that. As far as the unit itself is concerned, what you think you want now is not necessarily what you will want in a year. Starter kit first, exotic and fabelous in the future???
2/3 ....1/3 weight ratio is a good rule of thumb and a Motorvation Spyder might be close to that on a softail. I have one on my Ultra and it is a bit light for the ultra. The plan is to take it off the ultra and put it on my FXR. It should be perfect on it.
