Hello just joined website about a week ago & interested in installing sidecar on my 07 KLR in near future. Most likely the 2017 tax return time. This winter I'll be redoing front brake with the typical KLR type upgrades.. I'm leaning to more of a cargo type sidecar & wondering what suspension upgrades are necessary for a sidecar. I'd like to slowly buy parts for future installation. Right now I have progressive fork springs & fork brace.. I weigh 245 lbs... What I learned seems to be stiff fork springs (not progressive), heavy duty rear shock & raising link. Does that sound right? What kinda of fork springs & shock should I be looking for? Oh, when I do brakes I may remake front wheel to 19".. I ride 90% road & 10% smooth dirt/gravel.

Thanks

We have built many KLR rigs in fact I just purchased a 2008 for our employee's to build up a rig for their own use. We usually stay with the stock rear shock but put a heavier spring on it ($85) We will often go with our leading link front end $2000 but just as often keep the stock front forks, it all depends on the budget. On our current rig we are going to set it up either with an Enduro sidecar or one of the Sputnik sidecars we have a good deal on right now.

Yeah,, I was kinda thinking a DMC enduro with smaller diamond plate tool chest (37X20X18) on it... For the front forks which springs should be installed for sidecar use?? If leading link is used does it take stock KLR wheel?? Thanks

When we do not do a leading link we normally leave the front springs stock. With the link we make we run the stock front wheel.
