K1200 Rear Wheel Conversion Adapter
Hi. I posted this in the want ads but have had no responses, so I guess I'll have to have one made. I have a 2002 BMW K1200LT with a sidecar. I want to use an automotive tire on an automobile rim on the rear of the bike but need an adapter to do this. All the quotes I've gotten from sidecar dealers want to sell me a nice wheel too, but I don't have a lot to spend. I can use up a few more motorcycle tires over the next few years for that expense. Does anyone know where I can get the dimensions for an adapter so I can use a regular steel car wheel for the parts recycler and have a local machine shop make the adapter?
Thanks.

I have seen auto wheel's off the Smart car used on you're bike. Have no info on doing the job, but have you tried Googleing?
Safe riding Karl.
Yeah. Been Googling several times but just keep coming up with sidecar dealers and builders. I found an outfit that makes wheel adapters but they need to now the dimensions for my application. Funny, it was a sidecar builder that told me about this in the first place, but he's singing a different tune now, only sells the wheel and adapter.
Imagine that!
A sidecar builder won't give you his trade secrets so you can bypass him and go on the cheap.
He ought to be drummed out of the industry.
Next thing you know, there won't be anymore free lunches with your 10 cent glass of beer.

There is an outfit that modifies motorcycle wheels for dragracers and such. They will widen a stock wheel, or put an automotive bead on your wheel. I must be gettting old because the name has escaped me. If it comes to me, I will post it.

Ah, I remembered the company name. Kosman Specialties. Check them out.
