I have a Jawa/Velorex 560 I'm attaching to a hardtailed Hondamatic. I need to either make brackets to attach it or purchase brackets. I also need a new wheel and tire for the sidecar. I'll be taking it on a 5,000 mile road trip. Any input on how to attach the sidecar and where to purchase the parts is GREATLY appreciated. Yes, I realize it will be a painful ride 🙂

Thanks for any assistance.

Any machine shop can make the bars you need to make it a hard tail and Dennis Kirk sell kidney belts, if you go through with this make sure you get a lot of miles on the bike, the Hondamatic tranny is going to be the weak point, with the gearing it has there's going to be problems,,, not to mention top speed, IMHO you would be a LOT better off getting a larger displacement bike with as many cylinders as you can with a chain drive so you can change ratios.

The bike is already hardtailed and my reason for hondamatic is my MD (muscular dystrophy). Also, being on a fixed income I cant really afford Joe pro custom fabrication. I'm hoping to find some off the shelf mounts or used mounts that I can modify to suit this application. I also need to know where to buy a new wheel and tire for this hack. I've read about using a car tire but I doubt it would fit under the Jawa 560's full fender. Also, I'm not sure how to go about attaching the sidecar...it seems here in the mid-west there are few sidecars to look at to truly see how they're attached. I have a VERY general idea, but not sure how the adjustment would be made to increase or decrease the lead of the hack.

Thank you anyway for taking the time to reply.

66, I assume you have the 750 hondamatic not the 400. you might want to visit hondachopper.com there are a large number of people riding hardtail matic's there with great success, even a couple trikes (wont win speed contest) there is also a gent there who made his hack for a hard tail, has very detailed photos of the process. he goes by 750sergent

Eric,
Your wheel lead adjustments are made within the limits of your attachment struts. Beyond that with sub-frame brackets if really necessary.

I've answered your PM.
