Any opinions about a late '60's Velorex 560 that is in sound shape and mounted currently to a 1975 BMW R60/6 being mounted on a 1994 Honda Magna? I understand I will have some custom mounting that must be fabricated, and am looking more for opinions on compatibility. Intended use is short excursions with my pre-teen daughter. Any insight greatly appreciated!

The 560 frame and mounts are better then the newer Velorex frames. You will need to run ballist when the sidecar is empty. Make sure you build a good sub frame with the 4 mounting points as far apart as possible. The "universal" type frame clamps from Velorex will not allow the lower mounts to be far enough apart, if possible try not to use any of the "universal" clamps.

Excellent insight...thank you! I was planning to have a subframe fabricated much like the one used by "Rags" who had posted a few updates to his same generation Magna hack project here and with pics here:

Any thoughts from others?

I've had a Jawa/Velorex 560 on my '74 Moto Guzzi for about 5 years.
It's a definite head turner and fun to drive when properly set up.
I added a steel plate inside the frame for added strength and ballast.
Also have done other modifications which add to strength and appearance. Would be glad to
send photos, etc. Send me a PM.

The 560 Velorex's had three different types of mounts. Some were OK for larger bikes, some weren't. The frame were comparable in strength to the early Velorex 562 and 700 models which also shared the skinny 15mm axles with the 560. The 16" wheel of the later Velo's is sturdier than the 18" one and the 563T, 565T and 700 Tour models have triple tube reinforced frames.
For a quasi-nostalgic look on a modern cruiser the 560 will work esthetically, but any of the Tour models will make a better handling rig.
