Jack on.....
So what's the best way to get this puppy off the ground. I have wonderful motorcycle jack but clearly tha alone is not going to get my sidecar rig up. I was thinking about using a jack on the other side and lowering it on to jack stands.. Any problem with my logic?
In the shop I use racing jacks that I fabricated out of 3/4"x3/4' x.120" wall square tubing. I have a left and a right handled one to clear accessories such as bags, crash bars and kickstands. Just slide under the bike or car and push the handle to the ground and (one end) of the bike or sidecar is high and dry. Blocking can be used from that point if desired.
For on the road lifting, if a rig is low I use a compact scissors jack to get under it. I think my current one is from an older Chevy pickup.

I've extended the lifting rails on a heavy-duty (1,000lb) motorcycle jack about 12". These make solid contact on my GS/Ural and K1100/EZS/Champion subframes and the inside frame tube on the sidecars. Lifts both the tugs and thier cars quite well. The GS/Ural requires a couple of wood blocks (4" X 4") as the car's frame is that much higher than the subframe. The rollers on the jack make it easy to move the bikes around for maintenance and storage in a crowded garage. Yes, the jack is likely maxed out weight-wise, but is very stable as most lift is on the m/c (heavy) side. A little angleiron, some bolt hole drilling and old inner tube (to protect your paint) and your up and away...Danny
I use a standard garage wheeled floor jack and jack stands, as I would use on my car. It's not like I have to pick my rig off the ground so often that I need to buy anything special to lift it.

If you have room and a good workshop, this is the way to go.I built a pair for my rig, but need room to pull the ramps out and get the bike in front of them to drive up. open garage door works fine.
