How to tell if Harley & Sidecar were matched at factory?

I saw that sidecar frame. It looked pretty good but I think it was missing the crossbar for the upper front mount. Those are nearly impossible to find.

The guy in PA. at L&W body makes the upper front mount crossbarΒ  for the earlier frame's he is usually at the AMCA meet in April atΒ Oley PA.

I wouldn't want a repro cross bar link. The OEM metal is some pretty good stuff. I'm very sure that I could spot a copy but perhaps for other than Concours use, that would be good enough. The copy would probably be very expensive, though.

It's interesting that the seller didn't bother to point out the fact that the crossbar was MIA. Had it sold, the proud buyer would be in for a surprise.

If you really wanted a vintage sidecar, it would be far better to buy a complete rig with a metal body. They are on eBay frequently.
