Question for veteran sidecar enthusiats..92' st1100 Honda.. what side car if any could i entertain to adapt to this bike w/o an expensive process.. in closing it would be nice if one could hook and unhook sidecar easily so as to use bike also......I have a dog that has a pretty long face when i fire up the beast and head off for the day...
and is the auto leaning systems that i see now work at all? and does my bike need adaptation to accomodate side car.. as i really don't want to alter it's original state.. (wishful thinking on my part -?) (does one need a dedicated bike -rig that is used only for that purpose?) thanks --some riding left here in the color splashed Autumn days of Oct..

First off, you have to define expensive. There are a number of sidecars that will work. We have a few people here riding STs and similar rigs, but 3-4000 for a used one set up to your bike would be a fair estimate.

in closing it would be nice if one could hook and unhook sidecar easily so as to use bike also....

This can be done, but it might make more sense to buy an inexpensive "First Rig" to keep as a sidecar rig and leave the ST unmolested. Check the Superior phonebook for Jerry Schmitt. He will know of any local ones for sale. In fact, he might have a sidecar for sale himself that would look good on an ST.

Not sure what you mean here. Most electric leans only allow for minor changes in road camber, they don't "auto-lean" with the bike. There are some sidecars that allow the bike to lean, but now you're talking about a lot more money.

It will need a subframe, which may alter the appearence some but otherwise not really.

It's a lot cheaper!

I noticed in your profile that you own a GL650 Silverwing. Thats the bike that I have hooked up to a Dneper sidecar. I love my set rig. It came already set up with a Dauntless subframe. While I always wish for more power, I'm not so sure I want the extra size and weight of a more powerfull bike. When ridding solo, I can sustaine 80 mph, but my gas milage drops substantially. I also spend a good deal of time on the local dirt roads and I ride in the winter on snow and ice. Very versital rig.

Velorex sidecars are generally considered affordable. They are lightweight and many consider them too light for a bike like yours. (I rode a Velorex 562 on a big old heavy GL1000 and was comfortable with the pairing).

That would be nice, wouldn't it? Let me know if you can find one. 😉

No idea. But I do know this: Throw out any idea of an affordable rig if it's not rigidly mounted.
