Doug..........I agree with the Harley sidecar comments. I never liked the look, but there was something about this bike......... I do not care for the sidecar set-up compared to my Yamaha with California sidecar. Seems really loose and squirrelly (you know what I mean) on the bumpy backroads. Will take lots of practice. There are pros and cons to both bikes. Figure if I really don't like the HD after next summer, I won't lose money 🙂

My nieces (15 and 16) vote "yes" on the new to me bike. Said the sidecar is "cozier" than the other one 🙂 We'll be going for a ride as soon as I feel comfortable.

Thanks Dumas - I'll be checking the pressure before the next ride!

That is why I got a standard HD sidecar because of the dash. I have never run any ballast in mine from day one. Only had it on for about 2 or 3 months about 1200 miles. I like the way mine looks and being it is rigid no need for adjustment when you put more weight in like with others. I took a good friend that weights 275 pounds 95 miles to pick up his Ural and road just as well with him as it id with out and did not have to make any adjustments. He all so said it rode well. He has been riding rigs for 20 years. He owns 3 of them.

On my 06 standard HD sidecar I put on my 02 ultra and did not have to do a thing to the wiring. Mine is the last year you do not have to use a lean attachment and have it programed by a HD dealer for sidecar use. I can program it with the turn signal buttons.

On the wiring the only different on the ultra is they run two harness one like the standard sidecar for the lights then another for the speaker, intercom and so on.

Hey Mary Jo , do you have a link or info on the STEP class in Virginia? I had the info and can't find it now.

I don't think this is a S/TEP class, but it's put on by the Virginia State motorcycle folks

Loudon, VA looks to be the closest. They only offer the sidecar class once or twice a season when I checked before. If you go, let me know.

This was another one I found
