From messing with it I am guessing I have to take the oil filter off and put the front lower mount in that was is this correct? I sure it is as I just change the oil and filter 25 miles ago. Just my luck. Car is dead and bike is in pieces. LOL I normally keep one or two around but used my last one yesterday. 🙁

On my former 2004 Ultra, after reading the manual and much fiddling, the lower mount would not go on wthout removing both the oil filter and the oil filter mount. I almost had a really bad problem when I removed the two 1/4-20 X 1" bolts holding the oil filter mount to the right crankcase. One of them came out nicely and the other one lost its head when I barely started to turn it. Fortunately, there was about 5/16" of it sticking out.

After more fiddling, I managed to get it out with a pair of Vise Grips. I had my heart in my throut when I was doing that, too. It was really packed in there with some of their gray thread locker. I was sure glad that I didn't have to attempt to get it out some other way.......

So, regardless of what the book says, the oil filter mount probably has to come off. This may vary from bike to bike due to tolerances but that's what I had to do.

Thanks it is on and I was lucky and only had to take the NEW filter off. I know I have been saying it for about 2 years but if all goes well it should be on in no longer then 2 weeks if that.

The only hold up is going to be two straight edges which I might use string and 4 concrete blocks.
Thanks
Jeff
