If You put a car tire in a motorcycle with the intention of reducing the gearing on a shaft drive do you use the oem rim or is this a major modification. 1500 Kawasaki Vulcan w/spoked wheel to be specific? Thanks

If the rim is a 16" one it is relatively easy as long as you have side clearance.
Trying it with a 15" inch wheel rim is not recommended as the cycle rim and the automobile tires have different diameters.
There has been much discussion on this site regarding the safety and hazards of trying to install a car tire on a 15" motorcycle rim.
Some have tried it and feel it worked for them (Darksiders) and others have been severely injured when the tire or rim failed due to the extreme pressures needed to seat the tire bead on the 15 inchers.
This could happen when installing the tire or later on down the road.
(Some Darksiders also pass on curves but not all make it successfully.)

Thank you for the response, I do use the search function but some times have to ask a specific question to clear the murky waters of my mind. I understand the rim size dilema and after your response figured out what a "Darksider" is. It seems most discussion is around cost and safety not final drive ratios.
