Front brake, small experiment, good result
As everybody know, single-disc front brake slightly drags a steering bar when braking. If you have disc on the left, your bike needs you to counter slightly right when braking. Altrough it's dometimes difficult to observe, it has some influence on steering with sidecar.
Yesterday I made some experiment to substantiate or to contradict that described effect has influence on rig steering. My bike has the front brake disc originally on the left side of wheel. I made few miles without and with passenger. Then dismounted front suspension and interchanged front absorbers, re-mounted front tire counterwise and mounted everything together with brake on the right, not changing anything in rig's geometry. After few miles for brake pads to re-align, I started testing. With passenger there was small effect. But when I was returning home with only 10 liters of water in can, I almost didn't have to countersteer when braking, comparing to original configuration.
Good news especially for smaller bikes with not-very-heavy forks and with single disc.
Bad effect is that if speedometer/odometer is driven from worm-gear on front wheel, it becomes unusable. But some bikes have speedometer driven from rear wheel or from some gear inside gearbox, or electronic one with magnetic sensor.
