Was on my way home from the VA hospital this afternoon, I had been traveling just slightly faster than my normal. I started into my turn when I felt the sidecar lift from the pavement. Glad I had read the various threads about that subject on this forum, I didn't panic, (not my normal reaction anyway, in any case) It was somewhat disconcerting but was glad it happened in a safe environment, no other traffic, no danger of serious landscape violations like wire or wood fences.
I believe I read that practicing that type of thing is a good thing, and perhaps I will, BUT NOT TODAY, lol 😉
This forum is a wealth of information, I am very glad that part had been read prior to, and not after the fact.

Doc,
my first ride home from University led me on 140km only 3 times straight into the pasture...
Its a must to learn how to handle in strange situations ... rest read in the thread Winter time is story time
Best wishes and stay safe on the road, but experience on parking lots and harvested fields.

Don't know what combo you have but some ballast in the trunk is a good way to keep that third wheel on the ground. A sand tube, lead shot bags or some other soft weight (the hard stuff shifts and can damage the sidecar body).
For the time being or forever, whichever you prefer, if you decide to keep ballasted you can add permanent weight to the frame later (preferably low, to the rear and to the outside near the sidecar wheel.

I use two five gallon plastic collapsible water containers that are seat belted in the chair. if I pick up a passenger water jugs are easy to empty and store away.
