Just some food for thought. We have noticed on some rigs that a fault in the setup that would typically wear the rear tire will tend to wear the sidecar tire once a large car tire is mounted on the bike. Only reason that makes sense to me is that the added traction of the large tire 'overpowers' the smaller one on the sidecar to cause it to take the heat.
I would decrease toe in and see what happens.

Claude:

A 205 is skinny. The R3's standard rear tire is a 240. Only Metzler makes them.. Just like buying tires for a H1 Hummer.....no choice but one.

The sidecar tire had the problem before the car tire went on so I will try the reduction in toe-in. Thankyou.
Still looking for someone in Florida who knows the ins and outs of blackmagic sidecar setup!

I have been riding my R1200C/Champion Escort rig for over 16K miles now with a 165/15 car tire with no problems and very little wear. 15 inch car tires do fit on BMW rims. I can't say for anyother. Have a good buddy riding the same bike, ural chair, with same tire. No problems.

We just had this discussion on the R3Owners.net. Because of the tire wear associated with a Rocket 3 and the price of a new back tire as well as the fact that there is at present only one manufacturer, a car tire has been discussed quite a bit there. The Rocket Captains have came to the consensus that car tires aren't much good for solo bikes due to their squared off tread which equates to a 'drop over' handling scenario. I'd consider an automotive tire if my bike was continually mated to a sidecar and that would be the only way.

Not sure what you mean by 'drop over'. I don't ride it horizontally and the stock Dunlop didn't have tread going up the sidewall any farther than my Goodyear Eagle or the Potenza that I used before it.
Look at any of the V-8 bikes, they all come with a car tire. Boss Hoss bikes are quite popular with the Valkyrie riders, and many of us decided to try car tires on our bikess after riding one. If you have the chance to test ride a bike with an auto tire, give it a try. Then report back, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
