i have 120/70-17 front tire. TOMAHAWK. color green of course ZRX..anybody put a car tire for front. i heard that 17inchers are as close to diameter to car tires opposed to other biker rim sizes. i ride alittle too fast on tight right turns hence front wheel wash. will check for clearance between forks. advisable sizes? dangers? thanks...green zrx/562e velorex.........

I want to do the same thing... I think the bigger contact patch will help but I can't find a tire narrow enough in a 16... might not be one in a 17 either this is the size of my front tire 150/80/16 .....let my know if ya find a tire 6" wide .....Steve

Saw your note. I am also beginning to research tires for use on a 1999 ZRX1100 (that year used a 170 rear tire; later models had a 1/2" wider rear rim, I believe). At the Grandfather Mt rally, all the experts said "install a good touring rear tire, front and rear (mount the front in the reverse direction)." I don't find many such tires listed in a 17" size.

I just now emailed Coker Tires and asked if they had any suggestions (I think they're down for the weekend). They have all widths of 17" tires listed. However, I hear differing opinions on using car-type tubeless tires on m/c rims. Anything to this caution you've found out?

Finally, I was told to contact the fork/suspension experts, Side Effects, in Kamloops, BC, CA regarding triple trees with altered rake to resolve my high steering effort situation. They can modify a pair of stock triples for about $800 plus shipping. I think I'll fully explore the tire options/remedies first before taking that plunge.

I have been running a car tire on the rear of my solo Zuki 1500LC Intruder for 2500 mile and know guys that have been doing it for 50,ooo + miles no issues what so ever but it is a 15" rim and is a solid wheel not a spoked one..the ride is softer and the handling is great especially. on wet roads....I just thought that one on the front would have a huge contact patch and help ....if I didn't like it can always go back to a MC tire....I have looked on that tire site and my call them on Monday and see what they have....does the co that will mod the triple trees have a web site?? ....Steve

I run a car tire on my Goldwing, fits right on, but it is a 15" as well (Mini Cooper tire). I looked last year for a CT for my Suzuki V Strom (17") with no luck, couldn't find anything anywhere near narrow enough. I also checked with Jay at Dauntless, fwiw.

Please post if you find anything.

thx
