CAR TIRE FOR 03 YAMAHA MIDNIGHT VENTURE ROYAL STAR
150/90-15 STOCK TIRE SIZE REAR & 150/80-16 Front
WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD CAR TIRE FOR THIS SIZE TO FIT A 2003 YAMAHA MIDNIGHT VENTURE ROYAL STAR?
THANKS
155/60/15 BFG radial T/A ...the /60/ vs /90/ is the depth of rubber from rim bead to the road, or tire "profile", this variation is minimal, but should be noted, be also advised that the wall flex and solo handelling will be greatly effected by such a change and car tires should be used on a dedicated tug only with close observence to air pressures as these can drastically change handelling of the rig too, good luck, crawf.
I am looking for a car tire also to fit 150/80-16 front on my 98 Suzuki 1500 Intruder LC......I'll be watchin this thread to see if anyone comes up with one that will fit
I understand Perelli makes a 16"that is used on the Kawi Vulcans, lenghty research on-line can help with what the manufacturer's have in various sizes available,..good luck, crawf.
I'll do some searchin.....Thanks Steve
let me know if you find anything..

Are you pleased with your Suzuki? What about engine performance; especially vibration or lack of.
Thanks, Charlie
Crawf- we have a 05 Venture and are in need of a rear tire, too. We're going to look into the BFG tire you rec above. When you say "close observation to air pressure", what exactly do you mean? Increase pressure- lower pressure? Could you give a little more info. Also, we just want to be sure that it's OK to put this type of tire on the rear of the mc without changing the other 2 tires. Again we have a 2005 Royal Star Midnight Venture with stock front and rear tires and a new Motorvation Royale side car. The rear tire on the bike was put on new last year. It has about 5000 miles total on it and it's done! Need to get a new tire before we hit the Blue Ridge Parkway in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for all your info

I am running a car tire on the rear of both of my 1500 Intruders the hack and the solo bike.....ride is much smoother and braking too...
hey Wally, Beth,..what I was noting was that tire pressures with car tires, should be checked as closely, or more so then the bike tires,..the tire is designed for a car,...not a bike, so as mentioned earlier here, the bead and set may leak/seep air more then a bike tire, also the side wall is not designed for the stresses of tilt cornering the same way a bike tire is, a bike tire is thicker and curved for a specific load and repeat stress forces,..I find that with 30-32psi in the car tire, as car tire recommended,.. the bike handles like it is on ice as the wall doesn't give and the tire slides excessively,..drop the pressure to 8-14psi, and the tire grips the road without tread slip, or peel off,...your rig may react very differently,...also I remove my car often, and pulling on the bars is very heavy to crest the edge of the tire to corner at an angle, and the bike is rather loose through the apex ..just be advised that your handeling and general bike dynamics will change from what you are used to,..a "sweet spot set-up" will have to be found for your comfort level, and to maintain firm feedback through the bars. with or without a car in place, the dollar value, tread life, and livable short comings made it a good choice for me,..others will disagree, but it was better for my rig with or without the car, hope it helps, cheers, crawf. ps. I have over 25000kms on mine and still looks new,
