BMW factory sidecar mounts
I am working on pulling together a new project. I want to rig a Velorex 560 to a vintage BMW, maybe an R5, R60, R69, R75 or something like that. I've already got the sidecar, now all I need is a good tug. I know some of the BMW models had factory sidecar mounts on the frame. Does anyone know what models came with this option. Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Pre 1969 Beemers were sidecar equipped. The /2's had sidecar mounts. The plunger type rear suspension models also had them. The frame changes after then precluded OEM sidecar mounting.
The later model Beemers need a sub-frame or sub-frame brackets added to mount a sidecar.
Many have used the earlier chassis and reloaded them with a later larger displacement motor. Gearbox and rear end upgrades are also popular fixes to retain the "Old school" look, yet have the advantages of better power for Superslab work and all around better performance.

You have a BMW mini-museum just a little North of Atlanta at Blue Moon Cycle. You should be able to get a lot of info just by looking.
Excellent idea. I'll get up there in the next couple of weeks.
