Hi guys!

My wife and I are thinking about putting a Dauntless M73D on our BMW 1100GS.

We live in Wisconsin so it's a 1675 mile trip out there.

So we'd like some of your advice:

What's your opinion of the M72D?

Our choices are:

1. Ship the bike out and when it's ready, fly out and ride it back.

2. Have Jay ship the sidecar and subframe to us and we try to put it on.

3. Ride the 1100 out (along with another bike) and have him put the car on and ride them both back.

I am mechanical, I have a shop and tools, but should we just bite the bullet and have Jay mount it for us...so it's done right?

What do you think?

If you are handy with tools:
Purchase the sidecar and mount set, have it shipped and install it yourself.
I believe Jay (as ourselves) offers after sale technical support with the sale. This is common in the industry.
M73D or M72D ? I assume you are referring to their fiberglass clone.
They should hold up well.

Thanks, Lonnie!

M72D, excuse my fat, clumsy, fingers!

Jay shares your suggestion. He said I should be able to do it without much trouble. I understand mechanical things and geometry so maybe I should.

But my wife wants to take the trip to Washington as our vacation. Maybe see some of Idaho, too!

So if you don't count the cost of the trip...paying for shipping or paying for Jay to install it,...is about the same.

If you have time, could you send me a PM with a little information about your shop?

Thanks!

Downhill

Opps. More fat fingers again! I meant to say we live "near WI'.

What I was trying to convey is that although we live in Mn (Andover) we have to cross MN, ND, MT, ID, and then on to Tacoma.

The distance isn't so bad, but we have to do it in 3 days and then turn around and ride back.

I'm tempted to order it and have it shipped and put it on myself, but my wife is leaning toward making a trip out of it.

Does anyone have a Dauntless M72D, driven one, seen one?

Thanks,

Downhill

I will have one completed within 4 weeks. Dauntless is using my Moto Guzzi EV make the rig. I can tell you soon. This my first sidecar, and I
have no issues, yet

We expect photographs. Lots and lots of photographs.

PS you might consider a 7/33 rearend for it. It screws up the speedometer, but made a world of difference in take off from a stop and hill climbing. I can actually use 5th gear now.

What options are you getting?

Windshield?

Elec. Trim?

Have you decided on what tires to use on the Guzzi?

I don't know what I'll do with the 1100GS.
