Aux. battery
Any thoughts on what the smallest battery we could get away with in the sidecar, for when I pull over for a rest break for a couple hours. All I would plan on would be is the stereo, and if it is cool, a small defroster type heater, one I looked at today was rated at 150 watts. Don't want to work off the bike battery, awful hard to push start. 🙂 Don't have a lot of room in trunk area for much, and I tend to carry a lot of tools, for just in case.
Multiple your 150 watts by hours you will be using your defroster and you will get your need for Wh. Then divide Wh by 10 and you get needed capacity in Ah. Why not by 12? Because 12V is nominal voltage. And no battery should be "sucked" to 0% of charge. What will you defrost? food? It's better to place your frozen food in some metal can/box and place near to engine or on it. Even parked bike, especially with bigger engine, is "hot" enough to defrost a chicken.

Sorry, let me clarify, what I meant by the defroster heater, is the little unit that can be used in a car to help in defrosting a windshield. Just thought of something like that to take the chill out while I might take a nap in sidecar once in a while at rest areas while on long trips.
