Another Harley TLE question
I have the exhaust off my 2002 Ultra putting the cam plate update kit and my Baker DD6 transmission in. While I have the exhaust off I am going to install the 90 for the oil pressure sending unit, clutch cable and the brake line tee. On the brake line tee should I install it with the fitting for the sidecar brake line pointed up? That is how it looks in the manual. To me it looks like it will be a pain to hook up and disconnect the line with the pipes on. All so worried about the line from the sidecar laying on the exhaust pipe and melting. If someone could post pictures how they have theirs would be very helpful!
Thanks

Hi, I just saw your question. As to the brake, I added a 12" extension tube. (3/16" brake line) to the tee. You will find that the locaton of the tee makes it very nearly impossible to connect the sidecar brake line to the bike. I made the extension so that it points upward and the brake line then comes in over and to the rear of the passenger footboard. To answer the question, yes, the Tee goes up.
The extension has the added advantage of making it much easier to bleed the brake when removing the sidecar. Once the brake line is disconnected, a tap on the rear brake pedal will clear any air and then you can cap it.
I never heard back from you on the Zanotti Antenna. Did the one that they sent you work? As I said, they have probably superceded that -98A number with a -09. They sometimes make a small change and go to another number. Since the front part of the number is the same, I suspect that's what happened.
Here's a picture of what I did on the rear brake.
That is a good idea and will be what I do. I all ready have a brass flair fitting.
As far as the antenna from Zanotti they sent me the wrong one. They have the correct one in stock. I called Saturday and they are suppose to send the correct one and a call tag to send the wrong one back. Just waiting to see how it goes but I am feeling good about it. I was waiting to see how it turns out before I got back to you.
Thanks

They will treat you right. Typically when companies send the wrong stuff, they will pick up the shipping. They have large contracts with UPS so their prices are quite low.
I bought my 3.37:1 gearing form Zanotti's and I saved over $100.
I added a 12" extension when I got frustrated trying to get the hose threaded into the Tee. I simply couldn't get it started very easily.
Good luck.
I feel they are going to make it right and it was a honest mistake. Like I said all the numbers where the same but the ones after the dash. Yes there prices on big items are great but on small items they do not give a discount. I am talking about things like $5 gaskets and so on. I still get that stuff from Chicago HD but Zanotti is quite a bit cheaper of big items. I needed the rear mount for the sidecar where the passenger pegs is list is $181 Chicago HD wanted $134 and Zanotti was $118.
I keep plenty of extra parts around for my 02 Ultra. I do not really need this but last night on eBay I won a NEW never mounted fuel tank painted my color with emblems a NEW never mounted front fender painted my color for under $400 shipped. The tank alone list for $1,028 factory painted. I do not need it right now but one day I am going to repaint my bike with over 80K on it and the Alaska High Way it has its rode scars. I plan on seeing this bike turn 200K one day.
I want every one to know Zanotti has top notch service. They sent the correct antenna out Monday and I received it today with a call tag in the box. They did all they could to right the problem so I made a special trip to take the wrong antenna to UPS so it will get back to them ASAP.
