I have a 95 electra glide with a factory sidecar rig. I am looking to sell the bike, but not the sidecar. I want to know if I am able to mount the sidecar to a 2005 model. I assume that I need to get a mounting kit for the newer bike, but will there be any trouble making this happen? Thanks for the help.

Get the mounting kit before you sell the sidecar. That way you will know what can go with the sidecar when you sell it and what parts you'll need to to keep for the 2005 install.

Ten years is quite a spread for mounting sidecars on Harley-Davidsons. I looked in my manual and they don't go back that far for a specific kit. Nonetheless, the main difference in mounts would be the rear mount. That went to a 2 bolt version in 2002 and stayed up to at least 2007. So, you would need the rear mount for sure.

Then there are other differences. The brake pedal, brake master cylinder cover and remote master cylinder will be needed since the "lay down" brake on the 2005 will hit the lower front mount.

You will also have to adapt the sidecar cable to the motorcycle stop and tail light cable. Normally, the sidecar cable will simple plug in between the connector that goes from the main harness to the rear fender. I think the connectors may have changed in that period. Once that is connected, you will need to remove the right tail light bulb so that the turn signals will operate correctly.

I think there are some otehr differences but those are the main ones.

Good luck.

P.S. If you want Harley sidecar parts, better hurry up and order them as HD is no longer building sidecars and it's only a matter of time until parts become NLA (No longer available).
