My 07 RK has a cross brace between the front down tubes that the older models don't have. the brace interferes with the mounting position of the front lower mount that came with the sidecar which was mounted on a 94 flh. Is there a different lower front mount availible for the later models?

07 bikes use ENTIRELY different front lower mounts and rear mount than 06 and earlier

the old mounts wont fit AT ALL - no hope

two things - you must have the proper service manual & you have to do it properly

i put my 04 on a 07 , should have rebuilt the bike engine or purchased a new sidecar to go with the bike

would have been cheaper and faster

you will also find in fast order that if the front lower mount is too high - its supposed to be 1/16 above the regulator - say if its 1/4" above the regulator - then there is NO WAY to get the oil filter out of there - wont fit.

i have mine mounted properly - however - i got so irritated at oil change time that i purchased a riggs remote oil filter mount - so much nicer & provides access to the oil for a cooler.

All of the connection kit part numbers are spelled out in the HD sidecar manual. P/N 99485-07 (-07 in your case). Harley-Davidson has been making changes to engines and frames almost yearly since 2006. It's really hard to keep up.

You main problem will be that you may have to purchase new mounts (at least the front lower mount) and they are rather pricey. The changes are still relatively new and, even on eBay, used mounts bring big prices.

When I installed my sidecar kit onto my 2004 ltra, I found that the front mount wouldn't go on. It hit the oil filter. I took the filter out and it still hit the filter mount. I removed that and got the mount in and then re-installed the oil filter mount and then the front sidecar mount. I can just barely get the oil filter in and out. It's tight but it works.

on my 2001 bike i had to remove the oil filter mount to get the sidecar mounts installed

pita

on the 2007 the oil filter mount is cast with the engine case - so the lower mount is now completely different so it will fit.

used sidecars should be really cheap - it nearly always takes at least 2k to get the parts to put the used sidecar on a different bike

separating them is easy - its the combining thats not

oh well

Went to the dealer today and picked up a manual . while I was there we cross referenced the part numbers between 06 and 07. turns out only the right side of the front lower front mount have different part numbers. I measured the space between the oil filter and the down tube and came up with a 1/2 inch. the mount for the 06 and older is 5/8" thick. I'm guessing the 07 mount is 3/8".
Can anyone confirm that ?

the 07 mount is very thin near the filter and is about a inch taller than the old one

when i did mine i went from a 2000 bike to a 2007 bike with the same 2004 sidecar

brake rez was totally different due to O2 sensor being where the old rez went

it had to have the roll over switch that the 2000 did not need

the rear mount uses a slot instead of a pin - so the old mount would not fit on the new - but i think the new mount would fit on the old bike

the upper mount was the same

both halves of the lower front right were completely different

the 2000 had a hyd clutch & trans changed so the 07 needed the new clutch cable

brake wires were the same - sound wires had to be replaced entirely at huge cost

i think that was it - cost enough that in the end it would have been a wash to trade in the sidecar ON the bike and get a new sidecar with the proper mounts... *sigh*

Timo, Did you have to change the master cylinder?

Timo, Did you have to change the master cylinder?

I was wondering that about the newer HD's as well. On my 2004, I had to change the master cylinder cover to one that has the remote reservoir to clear the lower mount and the oil filter unit.

Maybe Timo will tell us.......
