562 lopsided
hack runs straight with no problems with handling. i have set the cars wheel vertical straight however in doing this the hack is leaning towards the bike. i have tried the other way of having the hacks frame horizontal but the hacks wheel is pointing away from the bike. i know european roads are heavily crowned but it looks funny going down the roads where i ride in california.. which do you prefer. or should i say correct.. thanks dan
Dan,
sounds like your tub axle is bent. check it out.

I agree with Bob. If the wheel is straight, the body and frame would also be straight. You've got a problem somewhere.
are all velorexs like this? i would like to hear from other 562 owners.... thanks dan
no, only the ones with bent axles :o)
We had a discussion long ago at SCT on this and it was agreed to by more than one person that some Velorex sidecars did not have the shock tower perpendicular to the sidecar frame from the factory. This can probably be checked out easily with the body removed. It could be 'fixed' or left alone as it is not a huge issue if you can live with it.
The concensus from the discussion was that most did not worry about it and sort of split the difference, so to speak. Checking sidecar tire wear
should tell the story over time on whether more adjustments are in order.
Please do not forgo checking out the axle etc as others here had suggested though.
thanks. i was thinking i was going crazy.. dan
My rig is crooked, and I AM crazy, but I don't think there's a connection.
you mentioned that the towers could be fixed.. is it a couple of shims or something more difficult, for instance welding of some kind? i was thinking of just putting some type of shim where the body touches the frame, being careful of making full contact with the entire frame not just where the bolts go through.. thanks dan
>>you mentioned that the towers could be fixed.. is it a couple of shims or something more difficult, for instance welding of some kind?<<
The tower assembly is actually welded to the frame and is not perpendicular to it.
Take notice that the 562 originally is designed for a 250 or 350cc engine with an own weidht of about 140kg.
Riding it assembled to a more heavier engine without alterations is more or less dangerous.
it is possible that the axle will bend ( mine did assembled to a suzuki 850gs )Replacing this for a thicker one is saver.
The original wheels should olso be replaced for a heavier one ( a wheel of an suzuki gs400 with a axle of 17mm will fit very good ).
And at last , sorry for my english.
Greetings from holland,
