I am looking for the 3 wire connector for a 1980 HD CLE sidecar. I have the wiring and connector on the sidecar, I'm looking for the connection from the bike. I'd settle for the part number of the wiring harness that connects to the bike. The connector half on the bike has two female pins and one male pin.

I know I can buy a 3 wire connector pair at NAPA but I'd like to try for the Harley one before I resort to that.

Do you have a part number? If you do, put it into Google and a source may come up. It's worked for me in the past.

No I don't have the part number. That's one of the things I asked for help on in my first post. I was hoping someone with a parts book supplement would give me the part number so I could search more effectively. There's a parts book supplement on e-bay but I don't want to buy a $35 book to find a $4 part.

The parts book will be valuable in the future but I understand what you mean.

Another approach might be to contact some of the older Harley-Davidson dealers. They may well have some of those connectors in stock. The one on the bike was part of an add-on cable IIRC.

I also want to complement you for wanting to keep your sidecar rig "anatomically correct". I don't like mismatched parts either.

A possible interim fix might be to solder some pins onto an add-on cable from the bike and insert then into the sidecar connector and use tape until such time as the connector can be located. BTDT.

Good hunting.

Yeah, I think that standard Molex(sp?) pins and sockets will fit. Now if I can just locate the ones I know I have left over from my Ham Radio days 25 years ago!

There you go! You might want to buy a bunch of them. I don't think Radio Shack carries much in the way of components anymore and the independent electronics stores are dropping like flys. The last one in Sacramento went belly up recently........
