Hello:
Need new shocks for Unit Forks on my '95 GL1500. E-mailed to Unit in U.K. Was FLOORED to find out they'd cost 220 British Pounds[$440.00]! Main reason is present currency exchange rate[British Pound = 50 cents US]. Is there US shock dealer which can replace these? .....OR..... Can my old shocks be rebuilt here in US?
Mine were Koni with red end bushings/ 8mm eyebolt holes[are actually 10 mm with 2 mm spacers]. Understand that Koni was sold; new company is called Ikon [Koni reversed]. Just need to know where to look and any advice really appreciated. TTFN.....Old Tom aka papasmurf in NH

Tom,

Can you carry one of them into a parts house? Many years ago I worked for Midas Muffler and later as an independent mechanic's shop owner. In each case, but especially at Midas, we would deal with folks almost daily who would bring in an old shock and we could measure it up and offer a new one of the same size.

Or try http://www.qa1.net They offer custom shocks for street rods. Maybe they can help.

Tom,
Get the overall length, compressed and extended, plus the bushing size. Call a tech at Progressive Suspension and say what the usage is and reach for your credit card.
