The -99B is shown in my book for a 2005 Ultra with a 1999 to 2006 Sidecar and also with a 2006 bike to a 2006 sidecar. You really need the book since it's difficult to explain.

You got me. It's earlier than 1994 due to the spings and there's really no difference from 1994 back to 1985 or so as long at it's a five speed for rubber mount. That type of Heim joint Mount came out for the first Evo's in 1985. It also fit the Shovelhead FLT which was a five speed rubber mounted engine.....Hee Hee. It's fun when you think about it...... 🙂

They have most everything except no brake line for the sidecar, no bank angle rollover unit, no lighting harness...

I have an 2002 service and parts book for my bike...It shows all of the sidecart parts stuff....the sevice only shows the bike...
i have found alot of sidecar service books on line...Just not sure which year ta buy...Im assuming its a 1988 , drum brake flht model by the vin # ..
It states its a TLE sold seperate.....I have found a book for 1985 up TLE models, or a 1990-93 book, plus a 1990-99 book.
I am going to prusue the 87166-99B kit, along with the heavier rear belt, step, rack and want to find out if the sidecar wheel is specific or can be changed out to a newer flht front wheel..
Im just geting into this, and no rush..Collect first, assemble later....I have indepth HD knowledge , so this will add to it..tri glides are priced way too high for me, thus this is an alternative for a few years....LOl...Heres a pic of my 2002 FLHTC/Road King....HankGlide

That's a good question about the wheel fit. The axle was changed in 1998 when they added the disc brake....before that, most of the drum brake axles were the same, probably back to the 1980's but you would have to have all of the parts books which I don't have to tell.

Nice machine.

Here's mine. It was bought in the crate from the local Harley Dealer and I installed it myself. The factory color-matched it to the motorcycle. It came with the connection kit and all necessary nuts, bolts and cables. It was really a lot of fun to uncrate it and do the installation. It handles beautifully with just the steering damper. I have less than one degree outward lean and exactly 3/4" toe-in and that was all it needed.

I specifically ordered the standard TLE since my wife doesn't care for the radios and so on. Although the seat in the standard TLE is not as soft as the Ultra TLE, there is more room in the standard model. It was also $2,500 less expensive, the difference being in the seat, radio tuner, cables and so forth. The Ultra model TLE tonneau cover has the snaps in different locations and also a aslightly different windshield than the standard model due to the hand holds that the Ultra model has. Other than that, they are identical.

Here it was when I was uncrating it in January, 2007.

No, they really haven't. And, if it makes you feel any better about having the one with the drum brake, they work fine. This is my third HD sidecar in the past 18 years or so and the first two had drum brakes. One was the four-speed frame model (1980 or so) that I mounted on my 1982 Shovelhead FXS and the second one was also drum type, (1987) on my five-speed 1993 FLHS. You really can't tell the difference in braking and from what I can tell, the brakes shoes last nearly forever. It's all good.

That sidecar will work just fine for you. 🙂
